One of our favorite places to sit when we go out is at the bar—and not just any bar, but ours. It’s an elongated oval and it’s quite huge…the kind where you might find yourself staring across at your next new best friend. Whether you’re here to talk, toast, or take a breath—we’re here for you.”
Skipjack was my very first job at 15, and ironically, it was also the first job for our two oldest children! Needless to say, this place has always held a special place in my heart. Our boat has been here for a few years, and we’ve built lasting friendships within both the boating and local communities-this is truly HOME for us. So, when I got an email last summer saying they were struggling to keep “Signals” open for the Fourth of July Holiday week due co staffing issues, our family jumped in to help. What started as temporary help quickly became what many now call a “Family Affair”. From my Mama holding it down in the kitchen to our Kids serving and barrending … and building, to my Husband wearing the “Chefl’ hat until we found one-we’ve filled every role with family, friends, and friends of friends. We’ve poured our hearts into making this a place where you can unwind, meet up with friends, and enjoy great food with live entertainment on the weekends. Our menu reflects our commitment to quality and health, shaped by our own journey through some very tough health challenges … n1inus a few indulgences! We serve generous 8 oz protein portions (except for our house made lump crab cakes, which are 5 oz each), and we fry with organic, grass-fed beef tallow, no seed oils! But The View isn’t just about food-it’s about atmosphere. We’ve curated an entertainment lineup not just for slip holders, but for the whole local community to enjoy. And now, about the new name-yes, this deck has one of the best views around as the pure serenity of nature rarely disappoints, but “The View” has another meaning, too. “V” is for Val, “E” is for Eric, “W” is for Walters…and the “i”? Well, that’s me-stuck in the middle. Middle child, middle class, yada yada yada. We hope you feel the warmth of friendly faces and the comfort of good company. We may not always get it perfect, but we’ll do our best to make it right. So kick back, sip on something refreshing, enjoy a great meal and take in “The View”! Val and Eric Walters are the proud (and slightly crazy) husband-and-wife duo behind The View at Skipjack Cove, a laid-back waterfront gem tucked along the beautiful Sassafras River. What started as a shared love for our local community, good people, great food, live music, and marina life has turned into a place that feels more like home than a business. Whether you’re arriving by land or docking by boat, you’ll find warm smiles, genuine hospitality, and a crew that treats you like family. The Walters have poured their hearts (and probably a few cocktails) into creating a space where people can relax, reconnect, and soak in the simple joys of life…. while introducing many to the simplicity of river life.
